The 7A18, the basic building block of 3- and 4-trace operation, is a dual-channel, medium bandwidth plug-in amplifier. It can be operated in any plug-in compartment of the 7000-Series oscilloscopes. The 7A18 and 7A18N are electrically identical except that readout encoding capabilities and an IDENTIFY function are provided only in the 7A18. The 7A18 features constant bandwidth for all deflection factors, five operating modes (Ch 1, Ch 2, ALT, CHOP, ADD), trigger source selectivity, and color-keyed control grouping. The 7A18 has a trace identify function. Internal gain and compensation circuits are automatically switched to correspond to the setting of the VOLTS/DIV switch. Polarity of channel 2 is selectable.

• Frequency response lower bandwidth AC (capacitive) coupled: 10 Hz or less; with 10X probe: 1 Hz or less
• Maximum input voltage: DC-coupled - 250 V (DC + peak AC); AC-coupled - 500 V (DC + peak AC)
• Common Mode Rejection Ratio (ADD, Ch 2 Invert): At least 10:1
• Channel isolation: 50:1 display ratio up to 50 MHz
• Displayed noise (tangentially measured): 300 µV or less
• Overdrive recovery time: 0.1 ms
• Time delay between channels: 700 ps or less
